My Thoughts

When I read the dedication, I know this story is going to be amazing. A story for all of the mothers in the world.

Rattled perfectly conveys the emotion a mother had gone through in making a decision for her child. It was so difficult and heartbreaking. When Kelsey had to put her daughter for adoption, she believed that it would be the best for the child. Brady would be cared and loved with a better chance of future. It had been six years but Kelsey still remembered the feeling of holding her baby for the first time before letting her go forever. She wanted to make a tattoo to be reminded of her baby. She had been saving up some money and finally she got it.

Alex never expected the girl he resented to be the one whose body he had to draw on. He had to get the job in Reeds so he convinced her to allow him to be her artist.

There are always two sides of coins. Alex saw Kelsey as the girl who abandoned her child while she saw him as the boy who doesn't understand. And throughout the story, the horrifying past of these two souls were revealed and they tore my heart. There were sadness, grief and pain in it. But the most beautiful thing in it was Kelsey's abundant love for her child. I got to know what Alex felt and I can't blame him for feeling what he did. Another thing that hooked me into the story is how love was shown through art like Kelsey wanted the tattoo, she wrote her baby the song and how she sang for her.

Recommended read.

The Baxter Boys: Rattled #2

Only three things matter to Kelsey Fry: an envelope full of memories, a pink box full of hope, and a well-planned future, soon to be realized.

Alex Dosek knows that Kelsey needs more than the tattoo he gave her. She hoped to ink the memory of the daughter she gave up for adoption into her soul, but that wasn’t necessary. The memories were already there.

Who would have thought a house full of boys would be a refuge for Kelsey? The Baxter boys come to Kelsey’s rescue and all is well, but the past has a way of catching up with you, and Kelsey’s past reaches out with a phone call. The daughter she gave up for adoption is sick, and she needs something only Kelsey can give her.

It won’t be easy, but it will be necessary. Kelsey will look into the eyes of her daughter and then walk away, and take nothing with her but the letters she writes to her daughter on every holiday and every special occasion. In the evening, when she can’t sleep, she pours out her heart on paper.

When her daughter turns eighteen, Kelsey can reach out to her. Those are the rules. Not a moment before. But sometimes, the fates intervene. Or friends do. Call it what you will.

The Baxter Boys: Rattled #3

Two things stand in the way of Madison Cross realizing her dream of studying music performance and composition at a prestigious college:

1) Her parents, who don’t understand or get her, and want her to attend a community college and settle on a career that will actually support her one day; and
2) A private instructor.

No music school is going to take her seriously with only middle and high school instruction, but she has never been given the opportunity for private instructions (see #1 above). Her one shot is convincing Mrs. Dosek, a well-respected pianist who teaches for free, but the woman won’t return an email, let alone talk to her.

When Madison discovers a pink box of letters hidden in her parents’ attic, she’s consumed with wanting to know more about the woman who wrote them. Through reading the heartbreaking letters, Madison comes to learn more than she ever dreamed of about herself, but now she has to face her biggest fear, and it has nothing to do with college. She must learn where she came from in order to find out where she’s going.

About the Author

Jane Charles is a USA Today Bestselling author who has lived in the Midwest her entire life. As a child she would more likely be found outside with a baseball than a book in her hand.

In fact, Jane hated reading until she was sixteen. Out of boredom on a long road trip she borrowed her older sister’s historical romance and fell in love with reading. She long ago lost count of how many fiction novels she has read over the years and her love for them never died.

Along with romance she has a passion for history and the two soon combined when she penned her first historical romance. What turned into a hobby became a passion. In addition to historical romances, she has been pulled to write contemporary and has released two NA novels in her new series, Baxter Academy of Arts. She intends to continue writing both historical and contemporary.
